Towson University's International Markets Summit

With the threat of an unsustainable economic recovery and further financial market distress, how should investors be positioned in 2010?

Following an extremely successful event in 2009, the Towson University Investment Group will be hosting the 2nd annual International Markets Summit. The International Markets Summit is a series of panel discussions on the current state of the economy and financial markets with some of the area's most influential economists and investment management professionals. The discussions are focused on the panelists’ outlook for the upcoming fiscal year and include discussions on the state of our financial markets and the global economy. Following our panelist discussions, there will be a professional networking session during which refreshments will be provided.

The panelist discussions will be composed of two separate panels focused on the below topics, with each panel lasting one hour. Each of the discussions will be focused on the outlook of three of our market experts, focusing on their respective topic. The discussions will be moderated by Daniel Miller, Portfolio Manager at the Towson University Investment Group.

Emerging Markets: The Next Global Leaders?
With the financial market recovery in emerging markets far exceeding that of the world’s developed markets, can investors expect this trend to continue? Many investors believe we are witnessing the emergence of a new global leadership, while others express concern over a liquidity driven-bubble. As capital continues to flow unabated into these markets, what geopolitical effects will be felt, and are the world’s developed markets in a long-term secular decline?

Domestic Policies in the New Normal
With the likelihood of an extended period of anemic growth in US, the global political landscape could change dramatically. Meanwhile, rapidly growing emerging markets around the world are selling Treasuries and buying gold, with the prospect of a new global reserve currency. New sweeping regulation and many other changes have the potential to alter the global standing of the US. Our panelists will address how this mosaic of dramatic changes could affect the global landscape.
