Q: What is the Alumni Admissions Nomination Program?
A: The Alumni Admissions Nomination Program enables alumni to support, annually, one undergraduate student's application for admission by waiving the application fee.  If you know someone who is interested in pursuing an education at Towson University and would like to know how to assist this student in achieving his or her goal, please read this information carefully.

Q: How do I participate?
A:
Follow these simple steps:

1) Have the student (either an incoming freshman or transfer student) apply online.

2) Review the admission requirements with the student (both this online form and the admissions application contain this information.)

3) Complete this online nomination form.

4) Students applying for admission online should request a Fee Waiver online, and note his or her participation in the Alumni Admissions Nomination Form.  Students applying by paper application should include a note with their application indicating their participation in the Alumni Admissions Nomination Program. Admissions applications will be processed upon receipt of this nomination form.

5) Have the student forward all necessary credentials, in official form, to the Office of Admissions.

6) If the student you are supporting plans to participate in intercollegiate athletics at Towson University, NCAA regulations are very specific regarding who may "support" this student in this program.  The only individuals who may support a prospective student-athlete include family members or established family friends or neighbors.  Failure to abide by this regulation may result in the student athlete being declared ineligible for collegiate competition. 

7) Make sure your candidate is aware of the deadlines for receipt of the application and all credentials.  The Office of Alumni Relations will confirm alumni status with the Office of Admissions.  Applications will be processed when alumni verification is complete.

Q: What are the application deadlines?
A: Fall Admission deadline is January 15 and Spring Admission is October 15.

Q: What are Towson University's admission requirements?
A:
Admission is competitive, based on the applicant pool and available space in the freshman class.  High school performance in grades 9-11, as demonstrated by a student's grade point average, is evaluated.  Strength and rigor of the curricula are considered.  Performance on the SAT or ACT (including written section) is also evaluated. The middle 50% of our 2012 freshman class had a GPA from 3.35 to 3.87 and SAT (R) scores from 1520 to 1730.

Candidates for freshman admission are expected to complete a college preparatory curriculum in high school, including for units of English, three units of social science, three units of science (two must have lab component), three units of mathematics (including algebra 1, algebra 2 and geometry), two units of a foreign language and six elective units.

To be considered for a transfer admission, a student must have completed a minimum of 30 credits of transferable college-level work and be in good academic standing. 

Q: When will the student know if he or she has been admitted?
A: The typical application requires six weeks of processing time.  Although six weeks sounds like a long time to an anxious student, please explain to your candidate that Towson University receives more than 15,000 applications annually.  Early applications are encouraged.  Students can receive complete information about the credentials requirement by reading the application thoroughly.
